Formed in 1978 as part of Sanford Industries, Hydrosil offers consumers an affordable, energy-efficient heating alternative to traditional gas furnaces. The creation of Hydrosil was motivated by the desire of Sanford engineers to provide consumers with an efficient, comfortable, and safe heating product. The original design of Hydrosil heaters resembled a self-contained boiler system. Building on that idea, Hydrosil now markets a variety of portable and floorboard heaters that use silicone liquid as a heating source. Hydrosil specifically formulated the fluid for energy-saving heat retention, so customers can heat their homes using less electricity.
Hydrosil enjoys strong customer support in the home heating market, and been growing steadily since the company's launch. In 1981, Hydrosil hit 1 million customers and continued to build upon this success when the company released their second-generation model in 1985. By 1990, Hydrosil had reached 6 million customers and released their third-generation model in 1996. Hydrosil teamed with Aube Technologies, a producer of electronic thermostats and energy control products, in 1998 to create a proportional wattage technology. The company released this product to the market in 2001. In order to begin worldwide distribution, Hydrosil and its partners began operations in Beijing in 2006, and increased the number of total customers to 12 million in 2008. Currently, Hydrosil serves over 14 million customers worldwide.
Committed to its customers, Hydrosil backs each of its heaters with a lifetime guarantee. The company maintains an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. Hydrosil belongs to the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc. and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Dedicated to giving back to the community, Hydrosil helps clean up highways, rivers, and roads, and also organizing recycling drives. Hydrosil donates personal grooming products to men's and women's shelters and gives 10 percent of its annual portable heater profits to support the promotion of green technology.
